The Security Officer II is to provide a safe and secure environment for all UnityPoint Health properties. Provides input in developing security procedures, which address the day-to-day physical security needs of UnityPoint. The Security Officer II will assist with patients, visitors, and staff as needed or requested. The Security Officer II responds to emergency and routine requests for service. The Security Officer II documents relevant calls, conducts investigations as appropriate, monitor’s security cameras, and other equipment as directed. Consistently utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, Psyche/Social, spiritual, educational, safety and related criteria), appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area. Successful completion of these duties on a regular basis contributes to UnityPoint’s vision of best outcome, every patient, every time, also helping to provide for a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Safety/Security
Physical Environment of Care
Education:
| High school graduate or GED equivalent. |
|
Experience:
| 1 year | Military, law enforcement or medical background preferred. Customer service or public relations experience preferred. |
License(s)/Certification(s):
| Complete MOAB training within the first 6 months of employment. Must have competency training completed within the first six (6) months of employment.
Completion of de-escalation training within 6 months from date of hire.
International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Basic Certification must be maintained to remain at this job code and pay grade. If not certified, must obtain certification within 90 days from date of hire/transfer.
Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
| BCLS (Basic Life Support) issued by AHA. |
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
| Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity. Microsoft Office – basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused. Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions. Must have competency training completed within the first six (6) months of employment to include Pepper Spray usage.

Other:
| Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. Work may occasionally require travel to other UPH facilities. May drive a UPH vehicle, rental, or own vehicle.
