The Histotechnician provides accurate and timely diagnostic information to healthcare professionals in order to ensure high quality patient care and customer service. Histotechnician is responsible for cutting, staining and preparing tissue samples for the pathologist to review. They are also responsible for prioritizing testing procedures and completing those procedures in an accurate and timely manner.
Education:
| Associate degree from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both), or at least 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university, with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both). |

Experience:

| Equipment to be used in this position includes analytical laboratory equipment, laboratory processing equipment, and hospital and laboratory information systems. Experience with this equipment is not necessary. |
License(s)/Certification(s): | HT (ASCP) certification or must be eligible to take the appropriate registry examination within one year of employment. |
