Overview

The Food Service Assistant is responsible for the provision of timely, safe, and accurate meal service and clean up.  The FSA promotes quality care and customer satisfaction by actively supporting the hospital mission in completing tasks.  The FSA completes all job responsibilities in accordance with established procedures of the department and hospital including safety and sanitation guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Is aware of hospital and department compliance requirements
  • Practices safe food handling procedures, including cleaning, handling, storage, and sanitation
  • Provides excellent customer service which may include assisting patients with tray set up and customers in café or catering, completes service recovery when necessary
  • Follows all portion control guidelines to maintain high food quality and customer-focused service
  • Follows department policies on cash handling procedures
  • Promotes safe working environment
  • Uses effective communication and works as a team with all areas of the department
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English
  • Knowledge of safe food-handling is desirable
  • Must be able to access intranet for email and hospital communications
