Day Shift - 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM
Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse will provide acute nursing care to the behavioral health care patient utilizing the Robert Young Center principles of Trauma Informed Care. The behavioral health nurse promotes mental health through the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of behavioral health problems, mental disorders and comorbid conditions across the lifespan. The behavioral health nurse will facilitate coordination of care with multidisciplinary groups to optimize care plans, individual treatment plans and safe discharge. Registered nurse will demonstrate Trinity’s principles and values when interacting with patients, families, visitors, providers and co-workers.

License(s)/Certification(s):
Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Illinois. Must apply within 90 days for licensure in Iowa.
Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BSL) certification as outlined per policy.
Must possess and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training or obtain within six (6) months from date of hire.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of the nursing care required for patients throughout the age continuum.
Ability to use the nursing process.
Knowledge of teaching/learning theories.
Ability to critically think, problem solve; plan, organize, and coordinate patient care activities.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing.
Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email and web browser.
