Addictions Counselor

Description of Position:

Provides addictions education and direct counseling service to patients and their families participating in services Top of the World Ranch. Activities include assessment, treatment planning, group facilitation, individual counseling and crisis intervention.

 

COVID-19 and Flu Vaccination Requirement: It is required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and Influenza. Exemption requests based on medical or religious reasons may be submitted, but must be approved for active employment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

 

Patient Care

• Provides direct patient counseling services, including assessment, treatment planning, providing individual counseling, facilitating group therapy, crisis intervention

 

Documentation 

·       Documentation of services provided by maintaining accurate client record reflecting services provided and recommended follow up

 

Care Coordination

·       Responsible for referral and case management activities, including facilitating referrals for additional services, participation in team meetings, coordinating care with community resources, etc.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements

Education:

 

 

 

Bachelor of Arts Degree in a related field with a coursework needed to be certified eligible OR

Has satisfactorily completed an accredited substance abuse counselor training program and a minimum of 3 months supervised substance abuse experience

Experience:

 

 

 

 

 

License(s)/Certification(s):

 

 

 

 

Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Eligible to apply for a minimum of temporary certification at time of hire with expectation to obtain certification within first 3 months of employment

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

 

 

 

 

Ability to handle stress, new ideas and changes objectively without undue resistance or reaction.

Excellent knowledge of addiction and interventions to assist clients to make behavioral change.
