Overview

This position is open to remote/work from home with strong preference for candidates residing within the UPH geographies of Iowa, Illinois, & Wisconsin.

 

Summary:

At UnityPoint Health, our App Development team creates powerful, useful and awesome tools for our providers, team members and patients. We support and continue to build custom applications and processes to support the growing and evolving needs of a medium-sized healthcare organization spanning several Midwestern states.

 

The Application Developer develops and maintains applications and technological solutions within our on premise and cloud-hosted environments, working in conjunction with the Architects in planning, designing and developing solutions that meet current and future UnityPoint Health business needs.

Responsibilities

Application development, implementation, and system maintenance

  • Implement solutions with a high degree of quality and adherence to internal standards.
  • Develop new applications or make changes to existing systems within a multifunctional project team. This includes project planning, requirements definition, detailed design, development, testing cycles, go live events and stabilization support.
  • Design applications to meet scalability, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Complete extracts, transforms and load (ETL) of data hosted in relational databases or other file formats. Support the data migration strategy and manage large data loads and other data movement tool.
  • Responsible for gathering business requirements, documentation, design, coordination, testing and support of applications.
  • Lead medium projects involving multiple teams and integrated systems.
  • Create processes and tools to ensure our systems are highly available. Work with other IT teams who support our environments to ensure systems are properly maintained and monitored. 
  • Maintain proper documentation for custom applications, databases, reports, and interfaces. Identify, evaluate, and implement documentation tools.
  • Install, configure, and maintain updates for software components of supported applications.

Operational Support

  • Responsible for operational support of supported technologies, including addressing and implementing root cause analysis and actions on incidents and tasks.
  • Support and resolve incidents with assigned applications that integrate with many other systems.
  • Review incident tickets for trends in software issues and work to identify root cause for these issues. Work with advanced vendor support teams to resolve complex application issues.
  • Provide day and evening on-call coverage as scheduled.  May assume additional on-call responsibilities as directed by Manager.
  • Respect privileged information and follow appropriate security processes for supported applications.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science preferred or equivalent education and work experience will be accepted only if previous experience applies to specific systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science; Computer Engineering; Computer Software Engineering; Computer and Information Sciences or other Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics disciplines (Preferred)

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of structured programming and application development or equivalent experience/qualifications.
  • Experience and knowledge of multi-tier and cross-platform architectures driven towards mobility.
  • Experience with enterprise software development life-cycle methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of .NET/MVC Framework development techniques.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Data platform: SQL Server, SSIS, and SSRS
  • Experience with cloud-hosted platforms (Azure)
  • Strong knowledge in T-SQL programming
  • Comfortable working with development tools: Visual Studio, SSMS, Visio, SVN, git, DevOps or other source control systems
  • Working knowledge of web-based technologies; HTTP, AJAX, HTML5, JavaScript/jQuery and CSS3
  • Microsoft .Net, WCF and complementary business layer and front-end technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint development technologies.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and associated PowerBI tools.
  • XML, SOAP, and Web Services.
  • Master Data Management, and ETL Development.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server Operating systems and comfortable in troubleshooting server issues
  • Working knowledge of Networking technologies and principles: Firewalls, Load balancers, VPN technologies, TCP/IP stack
