This position is Part-Time with around 20 hours per week and based in Cedar Rapids.

What You'll Do:

The Network Engineer Intern role supports the local area network infrastructure across multiple facilities at various sites. Intern may participate in consulting services, project management, network performance and capacity, configuration management, security, automated monitoring/alerting, disaster recovery, and deployment of established enterprise standards. Will support the development of operational support documentation for the Network hardware and software to be supported, monitored, and administered by the Operations department

Network Support

• Support the troubleshooting of network equipment or connection issues (Routers, Layer 2 and 3 switches, Wireless Network Access Points & Controllers, UPS’s, firewalls, etc…)
• Support the planning, coordinating, and implementing of network equipment
• Support operating system upgrades for various network equipment

Basic UPH Performance Criteria

• Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.

• Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
• Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.  Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Education:

• Currently pursuing Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Network Administration, Computer Science or related field.  

Experience:

• 0-1 year of related working experience
