Swing shift:  Friday-Saturday: 1:00pm-11:30 & Sunday-Monday: 9:30pm-8am. Four 10 hour days.

 

The Boiler Operator is responsible for the proper operation, monitoring, repair and maintenance of boilers, mechanical and electrical equipment associated with the Power Plant and Waste Heat. Additional support maintenance on the main campus and Ancillary buildings.

Responsibilities

MAINTAINS A HIGH DEGREE OF EXPERTISE IN THE BOILER OPERATIONS IN ORDER TO EFFECTIVELY OPERATE, MONITOR AND MAINTAIN UTILITY EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS. PERFORMS ROUTINE AND SPECIAL WORK ASSIGNMENTS RELATED TO MAINTENANCE SERVICES FROM THE BASIC TO THE MORE COMPLEX. PROVIDE AN ENVIRONMENTALLY EFFICIENT UTILITY SERVICES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO STEAM PRODUCTION.

 

·         Maintains knowledge and skills in the diagnosing and repair of Boiler and incinerator equipment and systems.

·         Performs preventive maintenance work assignments and inspections for the purpose of reducing the severity and frequency of equipment malfunctions.

·         Performs all work within acceptable codes, guidelines and practices in the industry.

·         Performs all of the above in a timely manner.

·         Performs preventive maintenance and repair or replacement of broken parts. Performs periodic inspections of mechanical rooms throughout the hospital to ensure proper operation of heat, air conditioning, ventilation & medical support equipment.

·         Keeps work areas, including Boiler Room, orderly, clean and safe. Ensures proper care in the use of equipment and supplies. Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

·         Performs maintenance duties on outside grounds; snow removal, clean up

·         Performs Security functions below: Ensures only authorized personnel are admitted onto hospital premises/ issues visitor passes and vendor keys to contractors during off hours. Keeps a daily log of security rounds when working security shift. Investigates incidents of unusual circumstances reported by hospital personnel, visitors, physicians or patients and reports all incidents, verbally or through general incident form by the end of Shift. Responds to emergency calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative patients including assisting patient care staff in restraining patients. Checks windows doors, locks to determine security level; reports all safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols.

High School graduate or GED equivalent

Experience:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

·         1-3 years of experience in/with the specifications of applicable building codes such as B.O.C.A., E.P.A., N.F.P.A., O.S.H.A., and J.C.A.H.O. requirements is preferred.

·         1-3 years of experience in/with operating complex equipment related to incineration and steam production equipment preferred.

 

License(s)/Certification(s):

 

 

 

 

·         Anyone hired after 1/1/2020 must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License in the State of Illinois.

·         Anyone hired after 1/1/2020 will have a Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) run annually.
