Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Clinical Excellence/Patient Care · Completes accurate documentation in patient records and charges. Demonstrates knowledge and correct use of all forms in regards to the day-to-day operation of the department. · Assists physician with patient treatments in office setting. · Coordinates patient care activities and the flow of patient information by effective communication with other office staff, physicians, patients, families and a variety of health care agencies while appropriately documenting to ensure continuity of care. · Demonstrates critical thinking in prioritizing patient care. · Possesses ability to communicate effectively with providers, staff, and patients to assist in identifying and solving problems. · Assists with orientation of new staff. · Conducts appropriate and timely documentation of patients concerns, problems and/or symptoms in medical record. · Reviews medical records through office audit for complete and thorough documentation by provider reflecting patient’s encounter.

Care Coordination · Prepares patient for procedure. May take vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, etc.). Interviews patients to obtain health history, allergies, current use of medications, and documents findings · Performs physical assessment of patients upon assuming care and according to protocol. Assesses and documents patients` physical, psychological and social needs appropriate to the age of the patients served on the Unit. Reviews other available diagnostic data (e.g., laboratory values, radiology reports, transferring unit reports, etc.) and incorporates into assessment process. Identifies, communicates and documents significant physiological and behavioral findings. May receive orders via telephone and ensures implementation. · Accurately interprets and promptly implements physicians’ orders. · Prepares patients for surgical procedures ensuring all preoperative protocols are followed and completed, and all pertinent information is documented in patient charts. · Collaborates with physicians and other health disciplines to coordinate the delivery of care and monitor progress of patient. · Demonstrates thorough knowledge of surgical procedures, infection and isolation control procedures and aseptic technique.

Work Environment · Participates as an effective member of the health care team to ensure high quality care and patient satisfaction by providing a professional and congeal work environment for patients, office staff and physicians. · Actively participates in intradepartmental meetings and in services. Reviews departmental minutes and seeks information through personal inquiry. Keeps self-informed of changes within department. · Demonstrates knowledge of department and management line of authority and follows proper line of communications and legislation affecting the profession, health care and current developments in the nursing field. · Demonstrates an understanding of the work schedules and adheres to expected time schedules. · Consistently demonstrates flexibility in adapting to changes in workload and assignments. · Provides support to the other members of the health care team. · Maintains an awareness of new regulations and legislation affecting the profession, health care and current developments in the nursing field. · Maintains a clean and safe therapeutic work environment by applying policies and principles related to care of environment, safety and infection control.

Basic UPH Performance Criteria · Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines. · Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance. · Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position. · Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. · Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year. · Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Education:
| Graduate of accredited nursing program. | Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing |
Experience:
| 2 years working as a Registered Nurse |

License(s)/Certification(s):
| Current licensure in good standing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire/start date. |

| Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. Work may occasionally require travel to other UPH facilities/hospitals. Required to drive your own vehicle for business purposes. |
