Overview

Phlebotomy Screening Assistant

Methodist Campus 

As Needed: Not Benefitted.

Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, early mornings. Some flex scheduling available!!!!!  

 

Attend and complete health screenings including data collection via phlebotomy, fingerstick and biometric measurements.

 

*****Candidate must have experience in/with phlebotomy in venipuncture techniques. This position is not located in the lab. Attends off-site screenings for our corporate clients.  Ideal opportunity for those who like a change of scenery-daily travel within the Peoria region. No overnight travel required.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Clinical Excellence

·         Perform screenings and follows hospital established protocols

·         Complete screenings effectively and efficiently i.e. phlebotomy and biometric measurements

·         Perform patient lab testing (venipuncture) and follow quality control in compliance with hospital lab procedures/policies

·         Assist with check in process at screenings as needed

Program Support

·         Compiles data as needed from employer/commercial and/or community screenings in a timely manner

·         Maintains screening records while following HIPPA guidelines

·         Maintain proficiency in technology platform for electronic data entry and transmission

·         Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Employee & Corporate Wellness

·         Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.

·         Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.

·         Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.

·         Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.  Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.  Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Experience:

 

 

 

 

Experience in/with phlebotomy in venipuncture techniques

 

1-3 years’ experience in/with phlebotomy in venipuncture techniques

License(s)/Certification(s):

 

 

 

 

·         Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License in the State of Illinois.

·         Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) must be run annually.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

 

 

 

 

Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.

Multicultural sensitivity.

Microsoft Office – basic computer skills.

Customer/patient focused.

Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.

 

 

Other:

 

 

 

·         Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.

·         Work may occasionally require travel to other UPH facilities/hospitals.

·         Required to drive your own vehicle for business purposes.
