Overview

The Interventional Lab RN delivers specialized care and treatment to patients undergoing interventional/vascular procedures.  The staff is on-call for off shifts/weekends as scheduled.  Staff must be able to respond to the hospital's call and be at the hospital in 20 minutes.

Responsibilities

  • Able to take call based on "on-call" policy.
  • Strong EKG rhythm interpretation skills.
  • Ability to provide leadership in Emergency or Code Blue roles.
  • Maintain ability to perform in an assertive yet supportive manner when functioning with physicians in the procedural setting.
  • Maintain knowledge of patient equipment and therapeutic modalities utilized in the Cath Lab.
  • Maintain knowledge of medications and conscious sedation used in the Cath Lab.
  • Complies with department policies regarding appropriate sterile technique and radiation safety.
  • Participate in education, community activities and performance improvement projects.
  • Oversees maintenance and provides troubleshooting of equipment.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements

Education:

 

 

 

Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Must have completed an accredited nursing program.

BSN is preferred.

Experience:

 

 

 

 

A minimum of 1 year of RN experience is required.

 

License(s)/Certification(s):

 

 

 

 

Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Must possess current RN licensure in the State of Iowa or compact state. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Specialty certification encouraged.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

 

 

 

 

Must be able to successfully complete basic computer course on the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) through in-hospital training. Demonstrates proficiency in the manual skills and techniques required to perform basic/advanced nursing procedures in the administration of medication therapy and the operation of specialized equipment

 

Other:

 

 

 

Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
