Inpatient Restorative Therapy Aide (RTA) is a member of the healthcare team that provides restorative interventions and modalities to maintain or regain physical well-being. The RTA prioritizes patient mobility, wound prevention, and preventing muscle atrophy in the hospital setting.
Implements restorative interventions as delegated by nursing and therapy team members. ·Collaborates with occupational and physical therapists, nursing team, and speech pathologists to implement appropriate interventions per patient condition. ·Requests additional help and support from the interdisciplinary care team when needed. ·Uses time efficiently and effectively, completes delegated tasks in a timely manner, and effectively manages a full load of patients. ·Demonstrates proficiency in motivating patients to participate in and complete restorative interventions. ·Establishes a professional rapport with patients, family members, staff and colleagues.

Assumes responsibility for patient, environment, and personal safety. ·Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment. ·Utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately. ·Follows infection control procedures. ·Practices good body mechanics, getting assistance as needed to protect patient and personal safety. ·Follows established chain of command when dealing with identified problems. ·Uses proper techniques and Safe Patient Handling Equipment when assisting patients with mobility. ·Applies all safety precautions when assisting patients.

Contributes to patient Care Delivery and Care Experience initiatives. ·Knowledgeable and skilled in applicable interventions to provide direct patient care. ·Responsible for ensuring that all patients are up for meals. ·Responsible for ambulating the patients and setting progressive activity goals. ·Achieves patient satisfaction and quality care experience while interacting and providing patient assistance. Respect’s privacy and patient dignity.

Basic UPH Performance Criteria ·Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines. ·Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance. ·Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position. ·Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. ·Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year. ·Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Education:
| Certificate of completion from an accredited Nurse Aide training program.
OR Current enrollment in an accredited school of nursing and have completed at least one semester of clinical experience. Must remain clinically active in his/her nursing program.
OR
Current enrollment in an accredited school of Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), or Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) program. Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). Must remain clinically active in his/her educational program.

| Successful completion of the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) approved Nursing Assistant competency examination to achieve CNA certification. |
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
| Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English. Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser. |

Other:
| Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. Work may occasionally require travel to other UPH facilities/hospitals. Required to drive your own vehicle for business purposes.
