The Hardware Technician Intern uses specialized knowledge or skills to perform hardware support and repairs for user departments across the Health System. Resolves hardware, software, and communication problems/conflicts/defects. Will interact with customers, and may recommend and purchase inventory, and control supplies and/or parts.

Participate in projects:

Work with the Hardware Tech Lead, Service Center, all Information Technology departments, especially Infrastructure Support, Infrastructure Implementation, Asset Administration, and Information Protection. Promote team effort in reaching solutions to customer needs.

• Pursing a two year degree in Computer Science or Programming. Equivalent education and work experience will be accepted only if previous experience applies to specific systems.
• Knowledge of a wide range of computer systems software, applications and operating systems.
  
• Requires personal computer, printer and peripheral experience with networking experience preferred.
  
• Requires communications and negotiation skills to effectively work with all levels of management throughout UnityPoint Health, its subsidiaries and affiliates.
  
• Knowledge of maintenance and repair of computer hardware; b) Investigating and resolving problems, and/or repairing as specified by work orders; c) Performing system upgrades, and other customized configurations; and d) Installing, integrating and configuring new systems and hardware for users.
  
• Knowledge of healthcare industry systems preferred
