This position is responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of the physical plant, as well as making necessary repairs to the building structure, general mechanical repairs, and preventive maintenance required to safeguard against most major repairs when possible; also involves upkeep of grounds. In addition, this position includes maintaining records for the facilities Life Safety and Quality programs. The position includes involvement with safety, security, and fire prevention/protection and assures all equipment operates and is kept in a condition assuring safety in its use and operation. Call time is required.

QI and Life Safety Program · Acts as the subject matter expert for the hospital’s life safety equipment and Quality projects. · Responsible for reviewing, implementing, and maintaining the QI (Quality) program for the department. · Keeps logs on facilities Life Safety Program to ensure regulatory compliance. Reports major repairs, needs and unsafe conditions to manager. · Performs, updates and creates new preventative maintenance programs as needed. · Serve on hospital committees. (i.e. Quality, Safety, etc.)

Facility Maintenance · Ability to perform general building and grounds maintenance as required. · Ability to monitor building functions/environment via computer software. · Ability to perform daily environmental checks (water, air and room temperatures, air handlers, HVAC equipment, boiler chemicals, and others as assigned). · Familiar with maintenance manuals and programs as required. · Exhibits skills and knowledge of the hospital facility; keeps hospital and all utilities in good working order. |

Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance. |

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
| · High School diploma or equivalent

Experience:
| · 1-5 years experience in general preventative maintenance and repair (walls, ceilings, floors, equipment, etc.).
| · At least 5 to 7 years of previous experience with Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, and/or Mechanical Systems · The ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in electrical systems and perform plumbing and/or mechanical repairs.

License(s)/Certification(s):
| Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. | · Plumbing, Electrical, or HVAC license. Journeyman Carpenter or equivalent.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
|
· Must be able to work and communicate cooperatively with other members of the department to achieve organizational goals.
