Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities

§ An extremely high responsibility is required in the performance of CT and the operation of the CT Section.

§ Performs a variety of special procedure examinations using computed tomographic diagnostic ionizing radiation equipment.

§ Schedules patients, maintains appropriate records and statistics, and maintains sufficient stock of supplies for the entire CT Section.

§ Assists the Lead CT Technologist with the evaluation and recommendation of new or revised CT policies, procedures, protocols, etc.

§ Assists the Lead CT Technologist when gathering facts and information for the Department Quality Assurance Program.

§ Administers oral and IV contrast media under the supervision of a physician.

 

Direct Patient Care Responsibilities

· Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to neonatal, pediatrics, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Documents care consistent with documentation guidelines.

· Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.

· Participates in department operations demonstrating professional behaviors to include supporting goals of the department/hospital and maintaining awareness of resource utilization.

§ Demonstrates positive customer relations skills

§ Supports and promotes effective radiation safety for patients and staff. 30%

§ Assists in scheduling of patient exams by assuring correct physician order and insurance pre-authorization number.

 

Department Responsibilities

· Participates in non-direct patient care activities including educational activities, quality assurance activities, department meetings, and other related activities.

· Provides a variety of services related to patient transportation and daily department

· Provides environmental duties as assigned.

· Exhibits knowledge of operation of Picture Archive Communication System (PACS), Radiology Information System (RIS) and electronic medical record (EMR).

 

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology

 

Experience:

Minimum of three (3) years of Radiologic Technologist experience and/or CT experience preferred.

 

License(s)/Certification(s):

State of Iowa License as a Radiographer. Accredited national certification RT(R). Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Member of the Primary stroke team. Refer to Stroke Service Policy for annual stroke education requirements. CT Board Certified through ARRT at time of hire or within 18 mos. Of hire. Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Demonstrates effective communication skills, both written and oral. Organizational and time management skills. Basic computer skills.
