Provide organizational oversight of ACO’s short and long-term operational objectives.  Position supports organization’s transformation to value-based care, working with ACO’s Chief Operating Officer and other executive colleagues in partnership with the regional leadership teams to drive performance in value-based agreements and payment transformation. Engage as a key relationship liaison with payors, employers and network partners to ensure progress towards goals.

Governance Support

• Ensure support for UnityPoint Accountable Care Board of Managers execution of fiduciary duties and governance councils and committees around ACO strategy and operations.
• Enable performance monitoring against financial and operational key performance objectives and metrics.
• Maintain in-depth expertise of health care industry’s evolution to support governance and colleagues in decision making.

Oversight of Value Based Performance Objectives

• Ensure infrastructure for monitoring key quality and financial performance indicators that will drive improvement in value-based agreements. Coordinate with payor and analytic resources to develop reporting, payment processes and risk mitigation that drives action in alignment with organizational priorities.
• Continuously identify and prioritize key drivers for improvement and partner with/support regions in developing operational action plans and focused interventions to close performance gaps.
• Guide development of effective financing (funding/sharing) mechanisms and provider incentives that drive care transformation in value-based care models.
• Develop, in conjunction with Medical Directors, plans to engage UnityPoint Accountable Care participants in quality, service, and utilization initiatives.
• Evaluate new care models as health care policy changes.
• Identify contractual issues, in collaboration with payor contracting and legal resources, that impact performance.
• Collaborate with key leaders to ensure regulatory and contractual compliance.
• Provide leadership in the development and execution of key performance indicators and strategies which differentiates UAC from its competitors.

ACO Operations

• Provide day to day leadership and operational management for UnityPoint Accountable Care.
• Accountable for budget and determining ways to improve operational efficiency, reduce avoidable costs and improve overall company performance.
• Responsible for overall new program, tools and technology evaluation, implementation, and ongoing oversight.
• Key individual to interact with Analytic functions and ensure industry leading data supply chain.
• Accountable for production of payment processing systems, claims processing, network fee schedule development and implementation.
• Responsible for value-based contract messengering and working with Payor Innovation leadership.
• Establish and maintain key relationships including:
  • ACO Board of Managers and governance councils, committees
  • UnityPoint ACO leaders and staff
  • Payor and Employer key leadership and teams
  • Region and Affiliate leadership
  • UnityPoint Clinic and UnityPoint at Home leadership

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree required

• MBA, MHA, or MPA preferred

Experience:

• 10 years healthcare-related experience with extensive knowledge of the healthcare environment and marketplace

Skills:

• Highly developed communication skills to effectively work with all levels of management throughout UnityPoint Health, its subsidiaries and affiliates
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Extensive experience building and leading teams through change initiatives in complex environments
• Demonstrated experience executing short and long-term plans with accountability for quality and financial performance
• Knowledge of and/or experience in Managed Care
