The Occupational Therapist Assistant functions as an integral part of the rehabilitation team and has a responsibility for treating patients requiring services associated with occupational therapy. The Occupational Therapist Assistant is expected to communicate with the occupational therapist regarding the patients treatment and progress and deliver service consistent with policies and procedures governing the delivery of patient care by the Rehabilitation Department, State Licensure and Code of Ethics standards.

Basic UPH Performance Criteria
Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
Identify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position.

Not required to perform the essential functions of the position.
Graduate of an Accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program
Current licensure in good standing to practice in the State of Iowa.
Must possess and maintain current BLS certification or obtain certification within three months from date of hire.
Completion of four hours of stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually
Membership in professional associations is desirable.
Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
Basic Computer skills
Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
