Overview

Under the general supervision of the Director of Support Services, performs scheduling, clerical, registration, billing and receptionist functions for the Robert Young Center for Community Mental Health.  Assists with supervision and coordination of activities for the Support Service Technicians.  Reviews  and monitors state reports from the Office of Mental Health and Office of Alcohol and substance abuse.

Responsibilities

  1. Assists with supervision, coordinates and schedules activities of Support Services Technicians.

 

  1. Performs registration functions, and assures timely, efficient and consumer-friendly registration system.  Has the ability to evaluate each registration/admission and be alerted to potential problems including pre-certification or financial assistance for the patient.

 

  1. Assures a clear understanding of insurance company information required to facilitate the billing and reimbursement process.

 

  1. Performs scheduling functions and assures timely, efficient and consumer-friendly scheduling systems.                    

 

  1. Performs reception functions, and assures that telephones are answered and patients and visitors are greeted in a timely, courteous and professional manner.

 

  1. Maintains accurate in-house records and reports for attendance rates and productivity

 

  1. Enters, edits and corrects charge tickets/charges.  Monitors charge entry and ticket reports for accuracy.  Assists Patient Accounts with billing problems.

 

  1. Coordinates the Voter Registration program and mails completed forms to the appropriate election authority.

 

  1. Reviews, monitors and evaluates OMH/OASA reports and submits corrections.

 

  1. Assists in the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of the Management information system.

 

  1. Assists the Director with interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and training of Support Services Technicians.

 

  1. Assists Director in development and implementation of policies and Procedures for Support Services.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:  Must be a high school graduate or equivalent required.  Two years experience in admitting, registration, insurance billing, and/or verification preferable in a hospital setting.  Business courses are desirable.  Previous experience in scheduling staff and previous mental health experience desirable.

 

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS:  Must be able to type, use calculator,fax machine, copier and computer, including Microsoft Windows, Excel, and office Must be able to communicate and listen effectively.  Must have interpersonal skills necessary to deal with the public, hospital personnel and patients.  Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
