Overview

UnityPoint Health - St Luke's College

Full-Time 

 

Responsible for the assisting in activities related to student financial aid and student billing.

 

Responsibilities

Financial Aid

·       Advise and counsel students and parents on the financial aid/billing process

·       Develop and maintain financial aid policies and procedures

·       Processes financial aid applications and awards in compliance with current regulations and communicates information to students and family.

·       Performs loan functions including certification, origination, disbursement, reporting

·       Collaborate and coordinate workstudy and student employment programs.  Provide necessary information to students and faculty involved with student employment programs. 

·       Coordinates Work Study budget.

·       Submits financial aid reports to various agencies and participates in audits and program reviews.

·       Prepares and maintains students’ financial aid records/reports in compliance with regulations

·       Performs all required functions to evaluate, verify and award financial aid to students

·       Report and reconcile all funds to federal, state and institutional accounts

·       Participate in professional activities and maintain professional affiliations as appropriate

·       Investigate and develop external resources of financial aid

·       Coordinates and oversees College scholarship process from communication of the application process, coordinate scholarship committee and sending award notifies to recipients

·       Work closely with Foundation department on the available scholarship funds and usage

·       Coordinates outside scholarships

·       Participate in professional activities and maintain professional affiliations as appropriate

·       Participate in college recruitment activities to explain the financial aid process

·       Assists with orientation activities. 

·       Understand and practice Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

·       Update and maintain the student database

Billing

·       Facilitate employee verification for tuition discounts

·       Process and coordinate third party payment requirements, such as Project Step Up, Military, Workforce Development, NDSU/Minnesota State, 529 Plans, employer tuition assistance, etc.

·       Counsel families on financial aid and billing processes to help manage the cost of attendance

·       Coordinates students’ accounts with Fiscal Services

·       Manage payment plan paperwork and processes

·       Process late fees and deferred payment plan fees

·       Coordinate Federal Nursing Student Loan paperwork with students and conduct exit counseling

·       Collect and process student account payments

·       Assist with the 1098T process

·       Balance student services credit card payments

·       Manage and facilitate student contracts with Four Seasons Health Club and maintain communication with Four Seasons personnel

·       Manage the Meal Plan program

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

 

 

Experience:

 

 

 

 

One or more years of financial aid, finance, accounting, or related field

 

License(s)/Certification(s):

 

 

 

 

Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

 

 

 

 

Excellent communication, public relations, interpersonal, organizational, computer, supervisory, problem solving, decision making and interview skills

Group presentation skills, travel and educational counseling skills

Able to handle large volumes of work with attention to accuracy and detail; able to work with interruptions

Ability to schedule, meet and maintain routines and deadlines and maintain integrity of records

Telephone skills and etiquette

Typing, copy machine, printer, scanner (tests, survey, evaluation) fax machine and 10-key calculator
