RN Surgery

Varied Hours (Shifts include 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the RN Surgery contributes professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients and their families.  Maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses, Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health within the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model and in collaboration with other care givers.

• Demonstrates competence in the skills, (critical thinking, interpersonal, and technical) necessary to carry out assigned duties as identified below. Demonstrated competence in recognizing and responding to patients physical, mental, emotional and developmental needs should be evaluated in relation to the patient populations served as appropriate for each responsibility.
• Assessment – collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation.
• Diagnosis – analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnoses or issues.
• Outcomes Identification – identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation.
• Planning – develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.         

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredite School of Nursing

License(s)/Cetrification(s): Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois and Iowa.  Current CPR Certification required.  ACLS certification must be ascertained prior to completion of orientation to the department.
